This year’s Newbury Town Civic Awards presentation took place online with a pre-recoded video being showcased on their Facebook page and website on Wednesday 17th March announcing the winners of the awards.

The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Elizabeth O’Keeffe, invites the electors of Newbury to the meeting, which takes place on Zoom at 7pm on 22 March 2021.

The By-Election for the Clay Hill Ward member for Newbury Town Council (1 seat) is to be held on 6 May 2021. West Berkshire does not have a full District Council election this year.

Polling Stations will be in place on 6 May and will be subject to stringent Government Covid safety measures to ensure people can vote safely.

Newbury Town Council will be hosting its third Climate Change Workshop on Saturday 17 April 2021. The workshop will be held via ZOOM and open at 2:15pm for a 2:30pm start.

Newbury Town Council have plans to plant an NHS Commemorative garden at Old Hospital Green, on Andover Road. The green space, which is home to the ‘Binary Conversation’ sculpture, has been chosen by the Council’s Green Spaces Working Group for the new scheme.  Herbs, shrubs and plants, widely known for their medicinal qualities, will be planted.

There is legislation (the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000) that introduces a 2026 ‘cut-off date’ beyond which any public footpaths or bridleways that have existed since before 1949, but which are not recorded on the Definitive Map and Statement, will be automatically extinguished.

On the 6th May this year residents will have the chance to elect a new Parish Councillor for Clay Hill Ward in Newbury.

Suraiya Sheikh, who attends St Nicolas Junior School, is the winner of the Newbury Town Council Civic Awards Pin Badge Competition.

The competition was launched to find a winning design for a pin badge to be used as the award to recipients of the new Community Champions award category
