NOTICE OF ANNUAL TOWN MEEETING MONDAY 17 MARCH 2025 7:30pm – NEWBURY TOWN HALL

The 1972 Local Government Act requires every town and parish council to host a meeting between March and June each year, to which all their electors are invited.

Formal notice of the meeting is given through the local press, shared on our social media channels and community noticeboards.

The meeting is open to the public and all residents who are on the electoral roll for Newbury (that is, all Newbury voters) can vote at the meeting and highlight issues they feel passionate about.

Questions should be submitted to towncouncil@newbury.gov.uk  by 5pm on Thursday, 13th March 2025 to allow us to provide a more complete response.

The Annual Town Meeting, called by the Council Chair (Mayor of Newbury), is not a council committee meeting; it is a meeting of the town electors which often involves partners agencies.

The meeting is an annual review of the Council year, an opportunity to debate important local issues and celebrate community achievements.  Local groups and organisations who have received grants or sponsorship will have an opportunity to make presentations to the Town about how the grant was used and their aspirations.

The meeting may also include a presentation from an invited speaker, providing residents with updates from local organisations that they may find of interest. It is a great meeting for networking, sharing information and learning more about Newbury.

Please note: The meeting will be live-streamed and recorded
