Mayor launches competition for civic awards pin badge
MAYOR LAUNCHES COMPETION TO CELEBRATE NEW CIVIC AWARD CATEGORY

Newbury Town Council is hosting a competition to find a winning design for their new pin-badge to celebrate their new Civic Award Category.
The Newbury Town Civic Awards are hosted annually, celebrating the voluntary efforts of the unsung heroes who have made a difference to the town.
New for 2021, the Council are introducing a one-off award, ‘Community Champions’ which will recognise those individuals who have come forward to give their time, energy and support to fellow members of the community out of their own kindness and goodwill during the lockdown periods of 2020.
All nominees of this award will be recognised as a Newbury Town Community Champion by receiving a special pin badge for their services to the town and residents throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
The competition is being launched on 7 December 2020 for designs to be submitted for the Community Champions pin badge. The winning design will be produced and given to recipients of the brand new Community Champions Award. Designs submitted must celebrate the community spirit of Newbury.
The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Elizabeth O’Keeffe said, “It has been a difficult year for us all in so many ways. In my role as Mayor, I have been struck by the wonderful spirit and generosity in our community of Newbury. An incredible number of groups and individuals of all ages have done so much for others in need.
She continued, “The Mayor’s Office and Newbury Town Council wish to show appreciation on behalf of us all by giving this little honour. I encourage you to take part in the competition to make it a true community effort.”
Further information and competition entry forms will be available to download via the Newbury Town Council website https://newbury.gov.uk/civic-awards/ . Paper copies can be sent on request. Closing date for entries is Sunday 17 January 2021. All ages are welcome to enter.
Nominations for the Newbury Town Civic Awards will be open on Wednesday 27th January 2020.
