COMMUNITY CAFÉ FOR VICTORIA PARK IS ONE STEP CLOSER – TENDER APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!
Newbury Town Council is moving forward with the next stage of its new Community Café project for Victoria Park. At the meeting of Full Council on Monday 31 January, it was confirmed that following planning approval, the detailed design is now ready, and the next stage is to issue Tender documents inviting suitably qualified contractors to bid for the Project build.
The Community Café is to be carbon neutral in design & build and is expected to meet BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard.
The Council will be inviting contractors who are suitably qualified and experienced in building such a high quality environmentally friendly and sustainable building to come forward with a Tender to manage the build programme.
The project is advertised on the Governments Find a Tender website https://www.find-tender.service.gov.uk/ and interested parties who wish to apply should do so via this website.
The Chair of the Councils Victoria Park Café subcommittee said, “We are excited that the project is moving forward, and we hope to be able to start work in September this year. At the forefront of the project is the Council’s commitment to provide a Café that will operate 364 days per year and will be an important and valuable community hub for the Town.
We also want to ensure that the new building is designed to enable year-round use. It will also have toilet facilities, including disabled access, for the café. Male, female and disabled public toilets will be built as part of the project for users of the Park.
