NEWBURY TOWN COUNCIL INVESTS IN ELECTRIC VAN TO SUPPORT CLIMATE EMERGENCY COMMITMENT

In a significant step towards enhancing sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, Newbury Town Council has purchased a fully electric van as part of its ongoing commitment to addressing the climate emergency.

Cllr David Harman, Chair of the Council’s Climate Emergency Working Group said, “This acquisition marks a pivotal milestone in the Town Council’s comprehensive environmental strategy, which aims to ensure the activities of the Town Council are carbon neutral by 2030 or before, and to ensure a greener, healthier future for the community.”

The electric van will be used for various Council activities, including maintenance work, thereby minimising the carbon footprint associated with daily operations.

Cllr Vaughan Miller, Chair of the Council’s Community Services Committee said, “We are pleased that the new van will not only enhance our commitment to the Climate Emergency but also provide a safe environment for our maintenance staff to carry tools, spares and equipment from job to job around the Parish and to perform their duties effectively and efficiently”.
