A DAY OUT IN THE PARK WITH THE MAYOR!
On Tuesday 31st August, the Mayor of Newbury invited families to come and take part in a Teddy Bears Picnic to raise money for the Mayor’s Benevolent Fund and his chosen charity.
Cllr Billy Drummond invited youngsters to join him and Bartholomew the Bear in Victoria Park Bandstand for a picnic lunch. Activities included a teddy bear treasure hunt and an opportunity for children and their teddy bear to meet the Mayor.
The event was free for everyone and £56.75 was raised for the Mayor’s Benevolent Fund which helps those in need within our local community and contribute towards the Mayor’s chosen charity, Speakability.
The Mayor of Newbury, Cllr Billy Drummond said, “I was so pleased so many people came along to enjoy the day with their favourite teddy! It was great fun and so many take part in the Teddy Bear Treasure Hunt. We took great care to organise the event responsibly and with everyone’s safety the priority and it went really well”.
