Two Councillors

Over £11K Worth of Grants Issued to Good Causes Across Newbury!

20 different projects in the local area have been awarded grants by Newbury Town Council this summer, following the meeting of the Grants-Sub Committee in late June.

£6,150 has been donated to projects including West Berkshire Foodbank, Kennet Community Radio and Falkland Cricket Club’s disability project.  A further £5,200 has been donated to youth projects such as the Community Youth Project at the Nightingales and the Corn Exchange’s Reach Out programme.  All the grants will be match funded by the Good Exchange.

Cllr Martin Colston, Leader of Newbury Town Council, said, “The Town Councillors are delighted to be able to support such a wide range of organisations that do great work for our local community, and in particular to support work for the youth in our town”.

The seven youth organisations to benefit are:

Berkshire Youth – Newbury Youth Work, £1,000
Community Youth Project – Nightingales, £1,000
Newbury Scuba Diving Club, equipment, £200
Newbury YMCA Youth Café, £500
Swings and Smiles, £500
The Corn Exchange Newbury, Reach Out, £1,000
West Berkshire Mencap, holiday playschemes, £1,000

Armadillo Art Experience – Draw Together, £250
Armadillo Art Experience – Resident Artists, £250
Falkland Cricket Club – Disability Project, £500
Friends of Wash Common Library, £500
Home-Start West Berkshire, £500
Kennet Community Radio, £150
Newbury Riding for the Disabled, £500
Newbury Soup Kitchen, £500
One Tree Park, £500
The Newbury Community Resource Centre Ltd - Community Crew, £500
West Berkshire Foodbank, £500
West Berkshire Homeless – Exiting homelessness, £500


Cllr Gary Norman, Chair of the Town Council’s Grants Sub-Committee said, “There is a further £11,350 of grant funding to be donated in November this year. If you would like your organisation to be considered please ensure you have an application on The Good Exchange website by the end of October; all those that fulfil the Town Council’s criteria will be considered”.
