Welcome to Victoria Park

As part of the continued investment in Newbury’s Victoria Park, new ‘welcome’ signs have  been installed at the three main entrances outlining all the new facilities on offer to the community.

Over the last four years, the park has seen a transformation with new Lawn Tennis Association approved floodlit tennis courts, new play equipment, a children’s Splash Park and a newly laid championship standard bowling green.

Plans to build a community café and changing rooms are progressing, which will create a new community hub where the existing kiosk currently stands. The changing rooms, once built, will mean that local league football teams will be able to hire Victoria Park for matches.

Cllr Miles Evans, Deputy Leader of the Council said: “Victoria Park is our pride and joy and I’ve been lucky enough in the last few years to champion its transformation into one of the finest green, public spaces in the south of England. We are very much looking forward to finally starting works on the new community café project, while our new signage is bright and attractive and reflects the Park’s role in our community”.

He continued: “I’m delighted to announce that following the success of our Victoria Park Family Day’s over the past two years, we’ll be hosting a third on Sunday 23 June 2019. It’s a great opportunity to bringing our community together – I just hope the sun makes an appearance!”

There will be entertainment throughout the day and something for all the family. The Bowls Club are happy to welcome new members and the Club will be open for everyone to look around and have a chat about membership and how you can get involved.

The tennis courts will be open too, and as part of the ‘Nature Valley Big Tennis Weekend’ our coaches, the National Tennis Association, will be on hand to chat about classes and how you can get involved. Membership for a whole year for a family costs just £44 and with the new floodlighting, the courts are even more accessible for everyone.
