Newbury Town Council has unanimously supported an application from Superbowl UK for a bowling alley, to be situation at the old TK Maxx site in the Kennet Centre.
The Leader of the Council, Cllr Adrian Edwards, welcoming the proposal, said, “We wholeheartedly support this proposal from the Kennet Centre, which will bring much-needed leisure facilities to the Town Centre and also attract investment and employment for Newbury”.
It is understood that there will be 14 ‘state of the art’ Ten-Pin Bowling lanes, a Crazy Club Soft Play Centre, Ninja Tag Active Obstacle Assault Course, a SEGA Amusement Arcade area and a boutique lounge bar & food diner.
Miles Evans, Deputy Leader of the Council, added: “This is an offering Newbury hasn’t got and hasn’t had before, so it’s my hope it will draw in a new crowd. As large retailers scale down their operations and, or move online, we have to support our excellent town centre.”
The Planning and Highways Committee of the Council voted unanimously to support the proposals. The ultimate decision lies with West Berkshire Council, who will review the application in due course.
