Building on the tremendous success of the Newbury in Bloom campaign over the last 3 years, Newbury Town Council can confirm that Newbury will be taking part in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom competition in 2019.
Britain in Bloom is the UK’s longest running gardening competition. It provides a regional and nationwide platform for community groups to brighten up their town or city. The competition is recognised across the UK as a symbol of excellence in community gardening, strong community spirit and pride of place.
Entering into Britain in Bloom will offer residents the opportunity to enhance the Town of Newbury through encouraging the formation of community projects.
Cllr Sarah Greenall, Chair of the Newbury/Britain in Bloom Working Group said, “We would like to encourage and involve as many Residential and Gardening Groups, Community, Friends and Volunteer Groups, Schools, Scouts, Guides, Fire Service, Retailers and businesses as we can to become actively involved in the campaign.
She continued, “Projects could involve identifying an area that is in need of revitalisation and renovating a particular run-down area that would benefit the whole community. The Council will be happy to support all community projects, including providing plants or equipment to help any groups or individuals who want to get involved”.
If your business, school or community group would like to be involved please contact the Town Council on firstname.lastname@example.org as all ideas are welcome in these early stages.
