Newbury Town Council has installed a second lightning conductor on the clock tower of the Town Hall in the Market Place.
The essential work follows advice from insurers after the Town Hall was struck by lightning last summer. The installation of this upgraded conductor and earth pit, together with additional surge protection, will help to keep this historic Grade II listed building protected should lightning strike again in the future.
Cllr Adrian Edwards, Leader of the Council said, “We’re very proud of the Town Hall and its great history within our community. With the additional new lightning conductor installed, the future of the building is further protected and there will be greater safety for all who use the building.”
