A new shared use cycle and pedestrian pathway is being installed at City Recreation Ground.
In 2017 the West Berkshire Cycle Forum approached Newbury Town Council to ask if the Council would support the idea of permitting cycling access through City Recreation Ground, specifically on the path that runs from Andover Road to Rectory Close. The existing path is deteriorating and the surface has become very uneven.
Cllr Adrian Edwards, Leader of the Council, said, “This is good news. We're very happy to support this shared use pathway through the recreation ground and would like to thank West Berkshire Council who generously funded the project”.
Cllr Miles Evans, Deputy Leader of the Council, added: "One of the Council's top objectives is to improve our shared public spaces and I look forward to hopping on my bike and trying out the new path soon!"
The work is planned to start on Monday 26 February and take approximately 10 days to complete.
