Charity stalls invited to Newbury Market at Christmas

Newbury Town Council is disappointed with the recent announcement from the organisers of the Newbury Christmas Festival that the event has been cancelled this year. We are pleased that the Newbury BID team has organised a number of other activities leading up to Christmas including their very popular late night ‘1000 voices’ choir event.

Our traditional Newbury Market, which runs every Thursday and Saturday will be open throughout the Christmas period and with a number of stalls ideal for Christmas gifts, and, of course your Christmas lunch and party food items there is no better time to explore the Market.

For a number of years Newbury Town Council has offered a free Market pitch to registered charities who can come along and raise some money on Saturdays. We would like to take this opportunity to invite any local charities to take up this opportunity to promote themselves leading up to Christmas.

If you are involved with a charity and are interested in coming along please contact the Town Council on 01635 35486 or email

Cllr Dave Goff, Leader of the Council said,

“We are, of course, disappointed to hear that the Christmas Festival in Newbury is not going ahead as planned. However, there is still plenty of time to explore our traditional Market each Thursday and Saturday in the Market Place, Northbrook Street and Bartholomew Street. Charity stalls are a welcome addition and I would encourage anyone involved with a charity to enquire. ”
