06 Nov PLAYGROUNDS REMAIN OPEN DURING SECOND LOCKDOWN
Further to the latest Government Restrictions, Newbury Town Council have had to close its tennis courts facility in Victoria Park from 5 November to 3 December.
Local league adults and children’s football matches usually played at our City Recreation Ground and Wash Common have also had to be cancelled until the restrictions are lifted.
Our playgrounds, however, remain open and we are pleased that you can continue to enjoy and have fun at our open spaces and play areas. We encourage everyone to stay ‘Covid-19 safe’ and to not eat or drink in any play area, dispose of all litter including face coverings properly in litter bins or take it home.
Using the playground equipment is done so at your own risk and you must remember to socially distance at all times and wash your hands or use sanitiser before and after playing. We do not recommend the use of the outdoor gym equipment as this is not currently advised in the regulations.
Cllr Martin Colston, Leader of the Council said, “We are pleased that our residents can continue to use our play areas and open spaces during this second lockdown period. It’s unfortunate that the football and tennis cannot continue for now, but we must encourage everyone to adhere to the Government restrictions and guidance to help minimise the spread of the virus”.
