CLIMATE CHANGE WORKSHOP – SATURDAY 25 SEPTEMBER 2021

Newbury Town Council’s fourth Climate Change Workshop will be held on Saturday 25 September 2021 at St John’s Church and Hall at 2pm. Everyone is welcome and no booking is required.

The Workshop will have guest speaker Dr. Mike Morecroft.

Dr Morecroft is an ecologist working for the nature conservation agency for England, specialising in climate change adaptation and mitigation, doing science and applying it to policy and practice. He is also a Coordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, working with a group of international colleagues to produce a chapter on terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems for the 6th Assessment Report. He has authored over 150 scientific papers, reports and book chapters.

Cllr Martin Colston, Leader of the Council encourages members of the public to come along to the workshop saying, “We are lucky to be able to attract such distinguished guest speakers to our Climate Change Workshop and I am excited to hear what Dr Morecroft has to say. An expert in his field, he will bring a wealth of knowledge to the event”.

He continued, “We are committed to take action to ensure that the activities of the Town Council are carbon neutral by 2030 or before. We also want to help residents and businesses in Newbury to tackle Climate Change in their daily lives. The workshop will give us valuable advice in how we can all help to improve our environment and reduce our carbon footprints”
