07 Sep NEW SAFER SURFACING AT BLOSSOM’S FIELD PLAY AREA
NEW ‘RECYCLED TRUCK TYRES’ INSTALLED AS SAFER SURFACING AT BLOSSOM’S FIELD PLAY AREA IN WASH COMMON, NEWBURY
Newbury Town Council’s contractors, Star Rubber Environmental Ltd have installed safer surfacing at Blossom’s Field, the popular playground at Wash Common.
This free draining, sustainable and bound synthetic surface is developed from 100% recycled truck tyres combined with a high-performance resin. This synthetic surface resembles loose woodchip and stays where it is put as the particles are bound together in the installation process. The surface is easy to clean and is tested and certified to playground area safety surfacing standards.
Cllr Martin Colston, Leader of the Council said, “This new surfacing not only looks good, but is a safe, environmentally friendly solution to the previously worn out play surface. Newbury Town Council’s Strategy is committed to refurbishing and/or replacing playground equipment when it reaches the end of its life. The new surface is being funded from Community Infrastructure Levies, which are collected on new developments in the area and are used to improve community facilities”.
