Dear All Residents of Newbury Town,
As this week is National Volunteers Week, I would like to take the opportunity to publicly thank all Newbury residents who have been active citizens in our community, helping and supporting each other throughout the Coronavirus crisis.
The amount of kindness and goodwill that has been demonstrated during this time is extraordinary. Over the last few months, I’ve been made aware of many organisations and individuals who are supporting those who are vulnerable and in need, fundraising efforts and simply spreading positivity during this time.
While it has been wonderful to recognise those organisations and individuals, I also know that there is so much more fantastic work going on that I am unaware of throughout all areas of Newbury. Therefore, on behalf of myself and all those who have benefited from these efforts, I would like to express my most sincere thanks to every single resident who has taken the time to volunteer to support those other members of our community. From giving up time to volunteer with an organisation, or picking up groceries for a resident who is unable to leave their home; every person who has contributed has made a difference in keeping spirits up during this time and it makes me very proud to be Mayor of Newbury.
With Kindest Wishes,
Mayor of Newbury
