Newbury Town Council Annual Meeting

Guidance for schools from 1st June 2020

The Prime Minister announced that a phased return of pupils returning to school will begin from the 1st June.

Headteachers across Newbury, and West Berkshire, are finalising plans to welcome children back to schools, colleges and early years settings. Each school faces different individual circumstances in relation to available staff, buildings and the number of children returning. Each school is also required to make a detailed risk assessment to ensure that the government’s requirements are met to create a safer environment.

It is anticipated that Primary School pupils in Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 6, and priority groups, will be due to return on the 1st June. Followed by Secondary Schools beginning their phased return from the week commencing 15th June, inviting Year 10 and Year 12 pupils back into school to provide some face to face support.

It is encouraged that all residents with children in local schools to monitor any communications that have been sent directly from the school and to follow their specific guidelines and instructions.
